I was introduced to it ten years ago by an then-girlfriend. I unearthed my copy last fall and read it again, and it was weirdly appropriate given the two-time-periods nature of the book.

Me too! It was one of those books that really caught me by surprise with how much I got involved in it. Scalzi tends to do that, I learned.
