Bizzare morning. I just spent half an hour trying to convince someone that pasties aren't just underwear. The word can also mean a savory pie (well, more like bread with filling than pie, but I don't know any other word for it...)

*facepalm* Never heard of Cornish Pasty, hmm? According to Wikipedia (because Wikipedia is love, doncha know?), a pasty "is a baked savoury pastry case traditionally filled with diced meat and vegetables". Generally kind of bland because they don't really season the stuff before it goes in.

It's a slightly different pronuncation, too. Pasty having the long 'a' while pasties sound like a type of Elmer's Elementary Paste (and probably taste as good, too).

Sadly, I didn't know about the pronunciation differences, but thankfully, the conversation occured online, so I didn't make a total fool of myself over it. That's what comes of getting most of my information in written, rather than spoken form.

Pasties, of the food variety, are also popular in Russia and Ukraine. Those are generally more spiced. (And if you ever want to try *over-spiced* and disgusting, have one made by me, but that's neither here nor there.) It's what I had for breakfast, and the reason the whole discussion got started. I sooo did not anticipate someone getting the image of me with edible underoos. *facepalm*
