...Ok, I was wrong. The Cybermen were pretty un-menacing even before "Doomsday." What about half the writers seem to miss is the real scary thing about them is the conversion process. In and of themselves, they're kinda laughable. The allergy to gold does nothing to help matters, of course.

One of my friends once loaned me and my husband a set of CDs that were like radio-plays for DW. One of them was (I think) fifth doctor and was about the origin of the Cybermen. It was awesome and actually made me feel bad for the poor guys.

I've heard a little about the origin story. Haven't actually listened to the audio, yet, but it's on my list. Or, er, would be if I knew the actual title. Do you remember off the top of your head what it is?
