Last night, I started watching the final bunch of episodes for SG-1 season 3. Had a good time with "Shades of Grey." Then, I got to "New Ground," and something kept nagging at me. Oh, it was technically a good enough episode, but that something kept nagging.

Then, I had a realization. "New Ground" is, effectively, an episode right out of the classic Doctor Who series. Think about it:

The team lands on a planet where two factions are busy fighting one another for idealogical reasons that really aren't worth it. The team is then separated, with the majority being captured by millitary who think they're spies for the other side, while the remaining uncaptured team member goes 'underground.' Attempts at reasoning go nowhere fast, and here there be many conspiracies.

Ok, to be fair, the exploratory episodes of SG-1 (as opposed to the more millitary ones) function on the same principle as DW in general. Just replace 'Stargate' with 'TARDIS'. Nonetheless, I *really* felt it in this episode. If someone had only thought to put a scarf on Daniel, I would have died right there.

(I admit, I haven't finished watching yet, as it was late and I was tired. If I change my mind about anything by the end of this episode, I'll edit the entry accordingly.)

It's also several episodes of Star Trek. (pick an incarnation. any incarnation. ST did it a lot, or something on a similar line).

But Daniel as the Doctor is an image that's staying with me.

I kind of fail at geekery, having seen very little Star Trek (and most of *that* was Next Gen).

Daniel as the Doctor would be pretty, indeed. It'd break my brain, but the pretty~

Yeah, the original one I've not seen much of. TNG/DS9/Vgr I know the best.

Mmmm.

Dude. I got my dad first season of TNG for Christmas, and am *fighting* not to do the evil thing and open and watch it before I give it to him. Even though he'd never know, and I could always claim it was the make sure all the discs were okay.

It's a good season, from what I've seen of it, too.

I'm, uh, not helping, am I?

Nooooo.

Pretty much everything I've seen of Star Trek I saw before age 14. That is to say: a very a long time ago, and I don't remember much of it.

Aw, baby!Kari. In a way, it's fun to rewatch things you saw before the age of 16. It's a little like watching a whole separate show, your take on it gets so different.
