Doctor Who - The Mind Robber
Mar. 6th, 2007 01:38 am- It's official. I like Zoe. The lava's coming, they're in mortal danger, and she comments on how beautiful it is. Reminds me of Ten with the werewolf.
- My word! Two and Jamie really are as much of a married couple as everyone says.
- The TARDIS got burried in shaving cream! Oh noes!
- I wonder if people's ears were less sensitive in the sixties. The screaming's piercing enough to actively hurt mine.
- I'm *sure* the TARDIS appreciated being all blown up. If I were her, I'd have dyed *someone's* laundry pink for that.
- This part must have been done on *no* budget. All in all, they improvised pretty well, finding an actual in-story excuse to have no set other than the TARDIS, few special effects and no speaking roles other than the main three. They *could* have just gone with more tinfoil and I, for one, am glad they didn't.
- The opening sequence reminds me a great deal of "Restless."
- ...It's not just the beginning. Joss so watched this as a kid, didn't he? Either way, both stories do surreal rather well.
- Now that's what I call 'losing face'. *snerk*
- Two said 'fantastic'. This amuses me far more than it should.
- You know, Doctor, you *could* try putting the face together on the board, before putting it on Jamie. Apparently, Gallifreyan kids aren't exposed to too many puzzle games.
- I love that Two carries around a big ol' hand mirror, though.
- (And I have to say, the face switch was a clever way to get around Frazier Hines's temporary absence.)
- Ooh, the Doctor and co get to interact with literrary characters. Very shiny!
- Do I sense a bit of meta?
- Ok, Zoe is being exceedingly silly. I just have to keep telling myself it's not her fault. She was simply written in the sixties. Sadly, when looking at early DW female characters, you have to occasionally ignore how they act when in peril.
- ...I take it back. Zoe's now having a cool moment. She threw that dude but good.
- That's it! Kick his arse!
- I find the idea that Zoe's supposed to come from the year 2000 hillarious. We should all be wearing shiny, shiny catsuits, yes.
- Every time someone refers to the villain as "The Master", I keep getting the wrong mental images. The Master (Doctor's nemesis) won't appear till Terror of the Autons, so this is just confusing.
- Yes, he *did* just mention the Adventures of Captain Jack Harkaway. Makes me wonder if our Jack had anything to do with those...
- Is it bad that if I were offered the Land of Fiction job, I'd consider taking it?
- Dude came this close to saying 'Resistance is futile;' I came this close to cracking up.
- And thus, the Doctor saves the day by writing fanfic! Hurray!
- And he even knows better than to Mary Sue himself. Smart man.
- "The children obeyed perfectly." And thus we learn that the Controller doesn't know diddly about kids.
Whee! That was a fun one!
