They should just subtitle this serial "Ace gets herself a cute Asian girlfriend" and get it over with. Seriously.

Bambera is made of win, and Ancelyn is a very pretty man. Good chemistry, too.

Watching UNIT in action still depressing, after watching Torchwood in action. Similarly, here we have a perfect example of how to throw in just enough sciency talk (Clarke's laws, etc) to make fantasy in a sci-fi series more palatable. Torchwood writers - watch and learn.

Having watched three episodes out of four, I honestly can't say why this story gets so much flak from fans. It seems pretty tight to me. Of course, it can still fall apart in its final quarter; I won't discount that. Still, I rather like it.

ETA: "Alien swords are a dime a dozen. Aces are rare." Awwwww. The relationship between Seven and Ace is magnificent here. Reminds me why they're my platonic OTP.

ETA 2: Ok, so the demon's a wee bit lame (though far better costumed than many a previous Doctor Who monster), but it paved the way for the Brig being all badass. Which was so worth it.

ETA 3 ...Didn't they do the nuclear countdown crisis in "Robot?" Fine, fine. I guess we are hitting overkill a bit. At least it was foreshadowed - I give credit where credit is due.

ETA 3.5: I have to say, this plot device was much better redeemed here than before.

Say what you will - my final conclusion is that this story's made of win.
