Last Poet Standing
Jan. 10th, 2011 10:34 amI don't know if any of you are familiar with the Last Author Standing series of lj comms. Basically, each comm is a kind of fic contest, where each week-and-a-half, the participants receive a prompt and write a short fic based on it. Their entries are posted anonymously and put to a vote. Each voting period, one or more fics is named the winner of that particular round, and one or more fics are eliminated. This goes on until there is only one author left. Think along the lines of Top Chef, only with fic, and you're on the right track. There are communities for various fandoms, including Whoverse and the works of Joss Whedon, in addition to multi-fandom comms based on a uniting theme, such as Kink (
wired_lizard is participating in that one!). There is also a comm for original stories.
And now, there is an LAS comm for poetry! It can be found here, and guess who will be testing her poetry mettle on it. I'd realized recently that I just plain missed writing poetry, which I haven't done on any sort of regular basis since freshman year of college. Do I still have it? Tune in to find out! Read along with the comm. Vote (anyone's allowed to, including non-members.) Join in, even, if you're so inclined. Either way, it's bound to be fun.
Note: The poetry deadlines are a week long each, instead of a week and a half.
