State of the Lily

Physical: My legs are under the assumption they belong to Nymphadora Tonks. That makes the seventh time I tripped over air today. Aiii.

Emotional: Pleasant side effect of staying up all night? All emotions get heightened to the n-th degree. It's like PMS, but without the cramps. Strangely, I can live with that.

Blogathon: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mirrored_echo, I'm now up to $105. Thank you!

Currently reading: Gee, I wonder what book I may have just finished last night...

- Snape's one of the good guys
- Snape was in love with Lily Evans
- RAB was Regulus Black
- Rowling would be hesitant to kill off any of the kids, but would decimate the adult cast. Or whatever the other ninety percent after 'decimate' is.

I enjoy being right about stuff.

My one major book quibble is the way keeping everything to Harry's POV limited Rowling. Oh, she was a master at getting other people's stories out for the most part (Snape's and Dumbledore's especially), but I for one would have liked to see more of what was going on at Hogwarts before Harry and co got there. Also, Lupin and Tonks badly needed actual death scenes (or at least descriptions of such). Don't get me wrong, I still teared up, but actual scenes would have been good.

I'd also have liked more of a true aftermath; the wizarding world recovering from the war, rather than a sacharine epilogue nineteen years later. I'm starting to think Rowling left these things to the fanfic writers on purpose, though. Which is admirable of her, if it's true. Problem is, I'm terrified to touch most of the HP fandom with a disinfected ten-foot pole.

Currently watching: I've re-downloaded the Tsubasa anime, which I lost in the Great Laptop Crash of '06 and am watching it again. Shiny multiverse goodness!

Currently listening to: Jonatha Brooke, Prodigal Daughter.

KoL: I've mastered the level 11 quest. Now I level up. Six mysticality to go...

Writing: Hello, writer's block. How have you been doing? >.

I was just thinking after finishing that--and I'm not a fic writer, mind, except for some really short Ginny/Luna stuff I wrote a year or two back--that I would love to write something about Neville kicking ass at Hogwarts that year. And...let's see...Luna didn't get taken until Christmas, and Ginny didn't get pulled until Easter, so they had a few months to have a fling before Ginny returned to Harry forever! Whee!

Squee! I would love it if you wrote that! Read it and love it.

I'm still saying that Fred didn't die. That page is entirely blank in my copy of the book. >.>

Rowling admitted that she wrote the epilogue before PoA was completed. I wonder how much would have changed if she was willing to change that and/or hadn't written it until, say, the end.

Speaking as someone who generally writes out of order, I'm pretty sure she'd have changed the epilogue to fit the story, rather than the other way around. Also, while I found this epilogue somewhat unnecessary, there really wasn't anything startling about it. Ron and Hermione are a couple? Duh. Harry and Ginny are a couple? Duh since book six. Snape's a good guy? Anything else would have been a cop-out.
