Today, I made a skirt. Created the pattern, cut the cloth, pinned the pieces, then sewed them. On a machine. Oh, it's not done. It needs hemming and elastic, and other, but dude - for someone who hasn't used a sewing machine in years, that ain't half bad.

Then, I fiddled around with a borrowed dress, trying to make it look more Shakespeare play-era, for Bard of Avalon. Taking out the shoulder pads made it look less eighties (and less offensive to my sense of aesthetics). Pinning the waistline made it look less like a mumu. I think I'm going to garter the sleeves - probably with silk scarves, which I will allow to hang free from my elbows. I wish it had a lower neckline, but I can't exactly make permanent alterations.

Now, to figure out something cool to do with my hair. I've got more scarves to play around with, but getting them to stay on is like herding cats. I might just leave it down; maybe wear something leafy wreath-like in it.

And now, I'm dead exhausted. It's not even as though my day was that busy, but I have no energy left. None.

Well, I didn't make my own costume - just a skirt for Dido and Aeneas. If you want to see the costume itself, though, and my tinkering with it, stop by any time you're free!
