DW - Robot - Part 1

Having seen the first episode of the Fourth Doctor's first adventure, I just have one question: Has there ever been a Doctor who was totally satisfied with his ears, upon regenerating?

Other observations: Tom Baker is adorably manic and generally fabulous. (What a surprise) It was a treat, seeing him don his infamous outfit for the first time. (And to think, were it not for the Brig, Four would be known as 'The Doctor who dressed like a Viking'.)

I do feel for Harry. He's so befuddled here, poor chap. I also wonder why no one bothered to fill in the resident medic in on the Doctor's alien physiology. Judging by how Harry reacted to the whole two hearts thing, it's possible he didn't even know the Doctor wasn't human. Biiiiig oversight, UNIT. Huge. Could have gotten your advisor all killed through carelessness, and that's not due to happen till the movie.

Now that I think about it, Harry reminds me of Firefly's Simon, here. Less so in Ark in Space.

Speaking of - much better Sarah characterization here. She's inquisitive and proactive and sneaky, and I love her to bits. I also want her outfit.

The robot itself? Looks ok to me. Kinda clunky. The effect where you're seeing through its eyes (that or window tile...) is effective, but it hurts my poor old eyes.

Scruffy scientist of currently indeterminate ethical orientation? Overacts like mad.

Science department director? Makes me happy by existing and being a woman. Love her first comment to Sarah Jane. Sadly, she's probably going to turn out evil. Sigh.
