The news have just reported that there's been a gas leak at MacLean hospital. From what I can gather, their line burst. Granted, this doesn't tell me much; when I say I'm no technician, I really mean it.

What it tells my mom is that we should close all windows, even though we aren't particularly near MacLean. Paranoid? Possibly. But she was in Kiev when Chernobyl occured, so I'm willing to let her go with it.


ETA: Mom doesn't have the monopoly on paranoia, either. As soon as she mentions this incident, I start thinking that everything smells funny. Go me.

I don't think a gas leak's going to affect you unless you're right next door, if that helps. The biggest danger there is inhaling it or some idiot lighting up with the air full of gasoline.

That's pretty much what I figured. So far, no one seems to have crossed that particular idiocy threshold.
