Holy fuck, do I feel awful for Sandra (Claire's mom)! All the various scenes in this episode put our characters in some sort of jeopardy, but the ones she was in were the ones to nearly make me cry. And was I the only one who was afraid they were going to do a retread of "The Body" (BtVs) at the end there, when Claire walked into the house? They went for something almost as upsetting, but *different*, which makes me want to kiss the writers. In a 'you're evil bastards' way.

My sympathy for Meredith, on the other hand? Kinda gone after this episode.

That whole episode made me want to alternately curse the writers for being the fucking bastards and making me go AHHHH DAMNIT the entire episode... and love them for being that bloody inventive.

And yeah-- Meredith? Can kiss my ass. Nathan's mom? Can REALLY kiss my ass.

You know, all the women in Nathan's life seem to want to control him, push him into this politician thing. It's strange.

In the case of Nathan's mom at least you could argue she has his best interests at heart. Whether she has any business deciding what's best for him is a whole separate matter, but the case remains. Meredith, on the other hand, seems to simply want to manipulate Nathan. My impression is it's the control she's after, even more so than the money.

As for the push into politics thing, I don't see that as any stranger than the parents who hound you to go into law or medicine. It's profitable and it brings you power, even with all the inherent risks.

And hey, Heidi doesn't manipulate him. So there's one woman, at least. From what I've seen of her, I quite like Heidi.
