Fangirling
Nov. 5th, 2003 01:08 pmThe unexpected little vacation I've been getting in the last two days is giving me the chance to catch up on everything I've been meaning to watch and read, but didn't have time for. I think I've squealled more today alone than I have since school started. On to the reviews:
The Doomsday Book by: Connie Willis - This is the kind of book that makes me feel all humbled about my writing abilities. The sheer amount of details both the major settings are described in are mindblowing. It makes you feel like you're *there*, even though you know that, in all likelyhood, Ms. Willis has never actually been to either the future, or the Middle Ages. I did have some quibbles, however: a few of the characters, like Montoya and Gilchrist came off kind of one-dimensional, and the ending left me feeling empty, though that may have been its point.
Gravitation manga, volume 1, by: Murakami Maki - Teehee, Shuuichi is silly. ^_^ But even as I giggle, I also cringe and recognize things I have done in the past, myself. Like the spazzy fit he has when his hard drive crashes. Heh. Have I ever been there. Thus far, Hiroshi is my favorite, though. He's just such a nice guy!
"Get Backers" anime, Eps. 1-13 - This is where most of the squealling is coming from. So funny! So cute! The characters are all infinitely likeable (even Himiko is a lot less annoying than I've expected her to be), and I'm getting inordinately fond of Kazuki. Which brings me to the point that That was a bad place to end!! in Episode 13. Currently downloading Episode 14.
