Jun. 15th, 2007 04:48 amI help out for a long time. Truly, it was a valiant effort. But even I know when I've been defeated. BPAL, it seems, now has a new victim in its clutches. I'll be putting in an imp set order when I have money.
Persephone - rose and pomegranate
Kyoto - cherry blossom, white sandalwood and star anise
La Bella Donna Della Mia Mente - Soft, lush myrtle and dry, sweet melilot with wild rose, pomegranate juice and peach blossom against a background of deep aquatic notes and a twirl of melancholy autumn breezes
Moscow - A rich, bold blend of imperial rose, carnation, lush jasmine, lily of the valley, dark musk, amber, bergamot and gilded tangerine
Mata Hari - five roses with soft jasmine, warmed by vanilla, fig, tonka bean and mahogany, spiced with a drop of coffee bean
Whip - black leather and damp red rose
...Why yes, that is, indeed, a lot of roses. Thoughts on any of these? Yea or nay? And if you have any other recommendations, step right up! Bear in mind, though, that I unfortunately lack the time and energy to hunt down rare scents - and by rare, I mean those unavailable from BPAL directly.
Meanwhile, have a review of a scent I've already tried.
Black Pearl
Evocative of the sea's unplumbed mysteries. Gentle and lovely, but menacing and profound. Coconut, Florentine iris, hazelnut and opalescent white musk.
In bottle: Coconut
On me (wet): Coconut; a bit faint, though that could just be the age of the imp.
On me (dry): Still coconut, but now some of the hazelnut and musk are coming through to make up a richer scent.
Verdict: It matched my shampoo! I swear that was totally unintentional. I love this scent. It's sweet without being cloying, and as a bonus, it makes me think of the ocean. A definite keeper.
I'm thinking of wearing this one, when I play Benny in Project Diana. The smell associates well with her in my head, and I'm sure she'd appreciate the fannish reference.
Yep, I'm a big enough dork to spend time deciding which scent best fits the characters I have played or will play. Whether I wind up buying scents based solely on character association remains to be seen. It's, um, a distinct possibility.

Also, you wouldn't be the first to think about scents and characters.

Date: 2007-06-15 11:20 pm (UTC)Sadly, this is my mom's computer, which utterly lacks AIM. I should be getting my own new laptop within two weeks, but that time can't come soon enough.
Is enabling through comments or e-mail possible?

I am not a rose person. Ask Kari. Rose haaaates me. The only rose I can really wear from the lab is Alice, sometimes, and Othello. Oh and Lyonesse, which actually is really pretty on me, but I don't get rose from it.
If you want to make a longer wishlist, you can post it over on that comm too. I personally could probably supply lots of people with imps of things they want to try. I have an army.

Hehehe. Do I ever have a longer list! Here (http://mllelaurel.livejournal.com/209543.html). I'm working on adding the descriptions to all of them.

Date: 2007-06-15 08:28 pm (UTC)I honestly can't comment on any of yours, since there are exactly two rose scents that don't make me smell like a little girl bathing in mommy's perfume. (I have tried Persephone; it is not one of the two)
I'm going to be cleaning out a lot of my imps soon--I'd be willing to send you some if I've got something you want or would like to try. Let me know?
