BPAL Mini-Reviews
Jul. 1st, 2007 06:19 pmThe Good
Sniffs of Aizen-Myoo, Baobhan Sith, Mantis, Verdandi, Yerevan and Holiday Moon made me significantly bump them up on my 'must acquire' list. Yum! I also had another sniff at Shanghai, which kept it high on my to-get list.
The Bought
Procured myself imps of Bewitched, Dirty and Les Fleurs de Mal. Initial impressions were quite positive. My skin still smells like all the various scents I tried last night, even after a shower, so real reviews of these will be coming later.
The Ugly
Something in Crossroads made me very, very allergic. The fact that it smelled like menthole-y booze to me didn't exactly help. Sadly, this is one of the ones with no list of ingredients, so I can't tell what notes to avoid.
The white rose in Ophelia was a sweet and pleasant one, but something underneath it smelled like mouthwash. Bleh. I can only hope it wasn't the lily. It would suck to have my namesake hate me.
Bayou went to soap in me almost immediately. A lot like New Orleans did, come to think of it. No luck in Louisiana for me, I guess.
Fallen was bitter. Really bitter, with a perfumey undertone. Pass.
Sea of Glass proved a much-needed point for me. Citrus smells nice; Lemon Pledge, alas, does not.
Aeval was interesting, but decidedly not-me. Something in it made my head feel swimmy. My guess is the musk.
Shug-Niggurath smelled foody to me, which must have been the ginger, but it's way darker a scent than I'm looking for. This is another one that made my head spin a bit.
I got not a whif of loganberry from Vinland. Unfortunately, as that was my main attraction to it.
---
I'd smelled and liked Black Rose before, but alas, that imp had gone bad and I couldn't get a reprise, now that I'm more educated. Note to self: locate this one elsewhere.
