- West (flying boy) still annoys the shite out of me. Thankfully, Claire seems to share this opinion.

- Hiro is still my baby, and even if Yaeko was a bit too awed by him in this episode, she's still awesome and together and totally deserving to be his love interest. Which...consider that look on Hiro's face... My heart hurts for that boy.

- I'm starting to get a bit fed up with Maya. If Nikki was somewhat of a victim character, so far, that's all Maya seems to be. And yes, I understand the gravity of how much her life sucks, and how terrifying it is to have a power which kills people, but so far, she's shown no strength, no backbone and no redeeming qualities as a character. In a work of fiction, having a sucky life isn't enough to earn one the audience's sympathy.

I'm starting to miss Nikki.

- ...And Alejandro seems to not only have the calmer, braver, more useful personality, but the productive powers which keep his sister's in check. I'm not normally one to cry 'sexist!' but this don't smell good.

- I wonder how Angela knew Matt was reading her mind.

- I *love* how the writers are using Mohinder's past bumbling to fool both the Company and a bit the audience. Boy seems to know what he's doing now. He and Bennet make quite a team!

- West is still a creepy stalker. Restraining order, Claire. Restraining order.

See, I'm willing to argue Maya. She does fight to stay close to her brother- which, as far as she knows, is the only thing that will keep her from hurting people. And she's obviously killed before. That's terrifying. I'm hoping as the season wears on (it's only episode 2 and she is a completely new character) we'll get her out of freaking out mode (which I think is absolutely all we've seen her in- a prolonged panic attack)

If she's still like that in 4 episodes, I am willing to write her off.

And Angela knew Matt was reading her mind because he said something out loud that she'd only been thinking.

...I need to do one of these myself instead of babbling all over yours.

Oh, I'm certainly going to give her the benefit of the doubt. Likewise, I hope she'll progress. I guess I was just hoping we'd get more nuance by episode two. Impatient? Me? Nah.

*nods* I was more wondering about the 'Get out of my head!' I suppose it could be an educated guess, based on her *knowing* he'd read her mind before, but I took it to mean she could sense him reading her mind *at the moment*.

Yes! I'd love to see your reviews of these! Doooo eeet!

I concur-- once they get across the border into America, I imagine things will be looking up enough (hopefully) that we get to see Maya's actual personality.

re: Angela

She knows there are supers out there, and Matt said something that she was thinking that even the other cop didn't understand right after she thought it. I don't think it takes to much of a leap for her to reach "he's telepathic".

I'd like it if they could manage one episode where the South of the Border cannot be summarized as:

Maya gets upset about having powers
Alejandro says he'll keep it from happening again
Maya and Alejandro get separated
Maya cries and kills someone(s)
Alejandro gets to Maya and says it's okay

I think Maya has a great power in a terrible character.

Oh, I know she knows he's telepathic. I just got the impression she could actually *sense* him reading her mind, at the specific moment, based on the directly-aimed 'Get out of my head!', as well as her statement in season 1 that she'd known about Nathan and Peter's powers before they did. It could be me overthinking things, but it could also be hinting at whatever her own powers are.

*Word* on that summary. I still hold out hope for her getting better, but *word*.

I feel EXACTLY the same about West and Maya. Man, both characters are just so awkward.

My husband called me at work last night to share with me the craziest theory on West EVER. It involved earthworms and Peter and time travel. I just say he's annoying.

I just say he's annoying too, but now I'm kind of curious about this theory. Lily likes the crack, yes~

So sayeth the husband: Maybe West is a Peter clone from the Company taking Peter in and testing the regeneration thing but chopping him in half (like an earthworm! except that's not how it really works) and they ended up with two Peters. But then West is a teenager so they'd have to have a way to regress him back to his teen years and then give him memories of being a teen in that town in CA.

I think it far more likely that he's Claire's half brother or something. Or he's just a random assholeish teen.

My theory is random assholeish teen, who needs to put down Nathan's powers (or ones very like them) and back away slooooowly.
