I'd add Captain America to the list. This one (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103923/). It's horrible but makes for some good MST3k-style riffing.

I watched it with a bunch of MST fans maybe twelve years back and we riffed it online. IIRC, there's something with a piano on a tall peak or something at the end. It made no sense.

It totally is. We also did Logan's Run, which I adore, but that didn't stop me.

Haven't seen that. What's it about?

It's one of my favorite movies, but you have to take it as a product of its time.

It's a dystopian future sort of thing. Everyone lives in this gigantic domed city and everyone can pretty much do whatever they want but only until they turn 30. Then they go to "Carousel", which is basically just a public execution. Supposedly if you "win" you get to live, but no one ever wins. People who try to escape the city are known as runners and are chased down and killed by the city's police force, known as Sandmen. Everyone in the city has a crystal embedded in one hand that indicates their age, so it's obvious when someone is approaching 30.

The movie's about when a Sandman named Logan is assigned by the city's main computer to find out where the runners who've made it out have gone. To do this, it fast-forwards his crystal even though he's a few years from 30, and tells him to seek out "Sanctuary". So he HAS to run, even though he's hunted runners for years.

It's based on a novel, which is pretty good. The sequels to the novel are pretty pulpy and the stories didn't make it worthwhile to me, but the first one did. The movie was made in the 1970s and it shows, but it's still fun.

When we riffed it, we were all in an AOL chat room and the guy who'd organized it started his video about 3 seconds ahead of everyone, so he was always making these awesome jokes. It was only when he typed a little too fast that we figured it out and started mocking him. All in good fun, of course. It was a fun time.

The Carousel thing almost sounds like The Lottery, albeit less sadistic.

That actually sounds like a pretty entertaining story. 70s, sure, but you could do good things with it.

It's less sadistic in some ways (impersonal and expected for all, rather than your own family and totally random) but just as bad in other ways (creates a whole society bent on cheering on people dying and killing anyone who dares question or tries to leave).

It's a really interesting idea. The book deals a lot more with the societal implications, and the age of death is younger.

The only reason I enjoyed Silver Surfer was because of the Johnny woobies. Because I love Johnny.

I haven't even seen Hulk, and will never, ever watch Catwoman. Oh God, the travesty.

I'm mad about the Elektra movie, because she's such a cool character, and that movie blew. I'm actually looking forward to The Spirit, but I've never read the book, so I think it will be easier to enjoy.

You should make a list of AWESOME Superhero movies to go with this.

Johnny is fun! But he alone can't save that movie.

Hulk and Catwoman should only be watched while drunk or stoned.

I did read the Spirit, and that thing really is a travesty.

I should. And possibly will later on tonight.

You know, I kind of liked Batman Forever.

But I had a pretty massive crush on Chris O'Donell at the time.

The reason I hated Forever was twofold. Firstly, it tried to be five movies in one, and I forgot what movie one was about while watching movie three.

But the real reason I detested it was that damned airhead of a pseudopsychologist. It would have been nice if someone working on that movie had been within five feet of a psych book, let alone read one.

"Barbed Wire"? Did you mean Barb Wire (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115624/), starring Pamela Anderson (Lee)?

That's not a bad superhero movie; that's a cheesy remake of Casablanca.

I haven't actually seen that one. It was recommended by someone else in the room when I ran out of ideas.

Are you kidding? That movie was utter drek. And this is without even getting into the fact that it had nothing but name to do with the comics it was supposedly based on.

I remember there being like one awesome scene, and the movie was so bad, I cannot remember it, but I do distinctly remember thinking "oh if only the movie was ALL like this..."
