Okay, so he's not really a superhero in the sense that most people would think of it, but I'd put Buckaroo Banzai on the list. He's had comic books! And a novel! And he's a brain surgeon/nuclear physicist/rock star/ninja/race car driver!

And he has an awesome team of sidekicks. Like Perfect Tommy, whose 80s wardrobe glory can be seen in my icon.

If I tried to even begin to explain the actual movie I'd end up giving you the whole plot. It's nuts. But so much fun.

Basically Buckaroo Banzai is awesome and has an awesome team/band and they go around being heroes and stopping alien invasions and crime sprees and everyone knows them and loves them and they have their own comic book. And there's a bit in the middle where they play a gig in a New Jersey club to a packed house. Because who doesn't want to see Peter Weller singing and playing the piano (and guitar!)?

I cannot describe how much I love that movie.
