I'm currently reading The Machine's Child, penultimate novel in Kage Baker's Company series and I have this bit of advice for the characters:
Dear Alex, Nicholas and Edward:
I'm well aware none of you have ever read a romance novel. Nonetheless, my point stands: You know that trope in said romance novels where the (frequently numb-witted) heroine muddies the plot by not telling the hero shit (or flat out lying for rather stupid reasons), thus creating a Big Misunderstanding? That. You're doing that. It's going to blow up in your face spectacularly, and I'll stand there, pointing and laughing because you brought that fucker on yourself, gentlemen.
Sincerely,
Lily
I've been warned that things get kind of sketchy (and not in the fun, intentionally-morally-ambiguous way) right around here, but I've also heard good things about Sons of Heaven, the series finale, so onward I go.
