More LARP stuff
Aug. 8th, 2010 03:34 pm...And, since, as I've said, new games have been posted, here are my takes on Intercon K so far. (Some of these may be retreads from a previous post, but most aren't, and I forget what went up when.)
The game list, with short descriptions, can be found here.
The Ducetown Diner – McDougal games tend to be either really awesome or fall flat. I’ll see how the first run goes.
10 Bad LARPs: C-Section – I still want to play this, but I’m hesitant to commit to a Sunday morning game at Intercon, since I tend to be wiped and need to pack in a hurry.
A Game of Thrones: Blackfyre Rising – Not familiar with canon.
Aces Over Arkham – Doesn’t really sound like my thing, and I wasn’t in the previous games in this series.
Archangels – Sounds way too abstract to be of interest to me.
Battle for Control of the Soul of the GOP: The Next Generation – Political games and/or political satire aren’t really my thing.
Better Off Dead: The Necropolis Senior Prom – Considering how much I’ve enjoyed
hazliya’s games in the past, this is very high on my list.
Clerical Error – Sounds particularly interesting. Definitely on my radar as a potential signup.
Divus Ex: In Nomine Mexica – Divus Ex games aren’t really my thing.
Dustpan: The LARP – I know this has run before, and if I’m not hallucinating, people who’ve played had a lot of fun. Need more info?
Galaxy Comics Presents: Identity Crisis – On one hand, it sounds like a fairly generic superhero game. On the other hand, superhero games can be a lot of fun. This goes on the auxiliary list. Read: if nothing else good is open in this slot.
Ghost Fu: The Jade Emperor’s Celestial Tournament – Sounds kind of quirky and intriguing, but there’ll be games I want to play more.
Grimm Tales: The Immortal Jade Court – Seems to be at least loosely based on Fables. Here’s hoping it doesn’t fall into the level of gender-and-racefail as the later issues of the aforementioned comic. If that’s not the case: another auxiliary option.
Hobotown - …Why is the title in all caps. That’s tacky, not eye-catching. This one could be either good or meh. Would have to see the reports from this run.
Interesting Times – This is still my ‘drool all over self and do anything to get in’ game, even if the setting’s been changed from modern day to steampunk. (Yes, I’m still meh on steampunk.) However dude, musical LARP! And I’ve never had a less than awesome time in a game by this GM team.
Kind Friends Together – Already played in this. The first run, as a matter of fact. Highly recommended for players who like real world high drama. I just wish I played in a later run, as a more mature and capable player.
Magic Eyes – Could be fun, but not imperative. Another auxiliary.
Michael Clambino’s Bowling Night – Bit too silly-sounding for me.
Resonance – Sounds awesome! Must play!
Sands of Al-Ashtara – I don’t have anything in particular against the concept, but it’s not exactly calling out to me.
Snaf University – Played in this already and had a blast. This is the good kind of crack.
Speed Dating: The LARP – Not really my thing.
Stars Over Atlantis -
wired_lizard and I are running it! You should all play.
The Clockwork Café – Nifty, but it’s a Brits game, so other people will fill this one up before I get anywhere near it. (I like the concept, but it’s not one of my ‘get in or die’ games.)
The Devil’s Karma – Meh.
The Election – See what I said about Soul of the GOP, above.
The Perry Stringer Show – More fun for me to watch than participate in. May just do that, if I’ve got nothing else in that slot. But that’s unlikely.
The Stand – The concept’s not really jumping out at me. Let’s see how the first run goes. (Though I did have a wonderful time in Oz, another one of
_dragonwolf’s games.
The Yellow Fleet – Very intriguing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this concept before. Quite possibly a contender.
Three Nations – Again, the political satire.
Victoria Junction – Not that interested, really.
