Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ban_ch4n lending me her DVDs, I'm now compulsively watching the afforementioned show. And holly hell, is it ever addictive! I was more than pleasantly surprised by how engaging the plot is, but the characters are really the ones that make the series for me. Somewhat predictably, Kurapika's become my favorite, right off the bat; still, I'm no less likely to wibble over Leorio being his adorably earnest (and somewhat doofy) self, or want to give Gon and Killua lots of hugs. In the short space of fifteen episodes (so far), I've grown really attached to them, and honestly want them to succeed at their goals.

Add to that a beautifully bad Hong Kong sub, which messes up every single character's name, and you've got a winner. Yes, I regard the crap subbing quality as a good thing. It's not so bad as to be incomprehensible, and it can provide endless amusement for the easily amused. :-p

Now, if only there were more fanworks out there. Anyone? I'm open to suggestions.

Ah hah! You've been captured by the cute guys who pound on people!

I quite love them too.

I have yet to find a whole lot of good fanwork, though. Becky's Fleeting Fancies site has a page for them, if you want to check out her recs.

Yay! This series is, indeed, love. ^_^

As for fanworks, Fleeting Fancies was the first place I looked, unfortunately, so I've already gone through everything that Becky recommended. On the up side, I have to say she has good taste. I just wish there was more!
